Welcome to the Automotive Technology Program at SRJC! - Santa Rosa Junior College's outstanding Automotive Technology Program is designed to prepare students for advanced entry-level employment in the challenging and rewarding automotive industry. If you are seeking high quality education and job training that prepares you for a career in Automotive Technology, SRJC can help you meet your goals.

The SRJC Automotive Technologies Program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation. The instruction, course of study, facilities and equipment at SRJC have been evaluated by the ASE Education Foundation and meet standards of quality for the training of automobile technicians at the following level: Master Automobile Service Technology. SRJC's accreditation letter can be found here. Program ID: 108352. Accreditation Expiration Date: 9/1/2028.  More information about the ASE Education Foundation accreditation process can be found at this link.

Outstanding employment opportunities - There continues to be excellent employment opportunities for trained Automotive Technicians, especially mechanics who have training beyond the high school level. Enrolling in SRJC's Automotive Technology Program can lead to rewarding employment at dealerships, smog stations, and repair facilities locally and across the country.

Today's Automotive Technician - With the U.S. population highly dependent on the automobile and as the automobile becomes more complex, the need for trained technicians continues to grow. Today, newer vehicles have sophisticated diagnostic systems, and skilled technicians are required to make repairs. Trained technicians diagnose and repair malfunctions of auto engines, electrical systems, accessories, transmissions, brakes, steering, air condition and perform tune-ups and wheel alignments. Automotive Technicians with state-of-the-art skills are in high demand.

Quality instruction - All automotive courses incorporate hands-on learning activities in a shop setting. By studying theory and attaining real-life, practical experience, Automotive Technology students learn engine repair and rebuilding, electrical systems, transmissions, engine performance, brake and chassis, and emissions control systems.

Licenses and certifications - Automotive Technology courses prepare students to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Exams. Courses are also offered to fulfill the Bureau of Automotive Repair education requirements in order for students to take the smog check examination.

Automotive Program Notes - For liability reasons the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Automotive Repair Program only works on vehicles from on the campus; that includes vehicles owned by SRJC, or owned by SRJC students, faculty, and staff (or their direct relatives: father/mother, grandfather/grandmother, brother/sister).

The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Smog Referee is not an SRJC department.  The referee program is an independent program and must be contacted through their 800 number: (800) 622-7733.
